Spartans Social Media Policy

Why we have this policy 

Social media is a fun way to share basketball news, photos, and stories. This policy helps us use social media in a way that is safe, kind, and respectful for everyone in our club. 

Who is this policy for 

  • Players 
  • Parents/Guardians 
  • Coaches & Managers 
  • Committee Members 
  • Supporters and volunteers 

When you post online 

Please remember these rules: 

  • Be positive: Say good things, cheer people on, and celebrate our club. 
  • Be respectful: Treat everyone- players, coaches, referees, and other clubs-the same way you would in person. 
  • Protect Privacy: Don’t share anyone’s personal details, private messages,  or photos without asking first. 
  • Think before you post: If you wouldn’t say it face-to-face at a game, don’t write it online. 

What’s Not Okay 

  • Being rude, negative, or unkind online 
  • Bullying, teasing, or discrimination 
  • Posting photos or videos of players without permission 
  • Sharing private club information online 
  • Using the club’s name or logo without approval 

Photos and Videos 

  • Always ask before taking photos or videos, especially of children.

  • Get permission from a parent or guardian if the player is under 18. 
  • Don’t share photos that are unsafe, unkind, or disrespectful. 
  • Only post photos that show our club in a positive way. 
  • If someone asks you not to share their image, please respect that. 

Club Social Media Pages 

  • Only authorised admins can post official club updates. 
  • All posts must align with club values and this policy. 
  • Admins have the right to remove any comments or content that breach this policy. 

If someone breaks the rules 

The club may:  

  • Ask for the post to be removed 
  • Give a warning 
  • Block or ban the person from club pages 
  • Take further action under the club’s Code of Behaviour 

Remember 

  • We are all part of Spartans Basketball Club. 
  • Everything we post, share, or comment on represents our club. 
  • Let’s keep it positive, respectful, and safe—on and off the court.
